I went to town fair tire with my friend and they had these the tread looked horrific. So I took a picture. Says they are "all season". I don't understand that yellow line. Why isn't it straight? The second set of tires is clearly designed to look like a good tire although I'm sure they're pure shit.

Anyone ever hear of these brands? Zeetex and Antares.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I was in my sister-in-law's S 60 T6. Her lease is coming up she was talking about getting rid of the Volvo but now she's since decided she is going to keep it although she put shitty tires on it because she thought she wouldn't be driving on them. She was like oh well it's probably all the same anyways. $45,000 card and the only thing between it in the ground or $600 worth of who knows what from who knows where.

Zeetex! What could possibly go wrong?

They have a yellow and a green line so you can feel a deep and personal connection to F1 racing. It has all the durability of a prime, and all the grip of an option, and all the propensity for catastrophic tread separation and explosive deflation because China.

P.S.: My goal is to have the Chinese state sue me for defamation because I talk shit about Chinese goods every single day of my life.

Those Zeetex don't look half bad as a performance summer tire, but definitely not an all season. They have large treadblocks on the shoulder, two solid blocks around the whole radius in the middle, and and decently large ones with small grooving to move water from side to side in the very middle. Won't do a whole lot for water evacuation but definitely should grip well if the compound is any good and handle damp conditions well.

Cheap tires are like using broken condoms.

There are very good tires out there for $600, so in short, shes being really stupid.

My girlfriends dad is a bit cheap and has a full set of Uniroyal Tiger Paws...and wonders wht he cant drive in snow with his Costco tires.

Tire Rack exists for a reason. They have some good competitors as well. Theres really no excuse not to.

Yeah I feel like $800 is the sweet spot for the size that's on the Volvo but like you say it's only about $200 more to have really good tires it's too bad people are so cheap with such stupid things.

$600!!! You can get some nice tires for $600!

My 2013 Jetta TDI came with shitty tires, I replaced them right away with Michelin Primacy tires for less than $600. I didn't shop other brands as I am very happy with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my Porsche, glad I stayed loyal to the brand with the Jetta too. I strongly suggest your sister look at the Primacy as an option, I'm very happy with them.

The only contact your car has with the road is your tires. If you're lucky. Think about it.

I just drove out of Belle Tire with GREAT tires a couple weeks ago. I even got 3 years of "anything happens we fix/replace it" for $520 bucks on my Milan.

You can get good tires at a good price if you know what to look for...

I got General AltiMAX rt43's (on about 74 recommendations from other oppos, ok well maybe not 74, but it was a ton of them)

I spent under $500 on all seasons on my Camaro steelies, but they were also bfgoodrich tires.

Is it wrong that the first image that came in to my head with the brand name Antares was the wonderful fireworks show this fall at Wallops during a commercial launch?

Kinja'd!!!

I'm thinking the results might be quite similar, if smaller scale, with those tires. Reminds me of an old Dennis Miller routine poking fun at K-Mart and a 2-for-1 sale. "Hey, folks, two of shit is shit. If they really want to f**k you, they'll give you three." Buy 3 Costco/WalMart/Whoever tires and get the fourth free! Yeah, I'll pass, thanks.

Your question about the yellow line is what's really intriguing...So many questions. That is the worst all season tread I've ever seen...Maybe if the season is summer, and you are only highway driving.

Maybe its the knock off of an Invo..Which oddly enough I've had great luck with after resisting the nutty design for a long time.

Zeetex is probably better than split port at least the valves won't nuke themselves. (1st gen US Ford Focus engines Zetec and Split Port for those playing along at home.)

I have primacy alpins on my freeway bomber, pilot sport a/s 3 on the wife's coupe, pilot road 4 on the triumph and Michelin knobs on the old yz. They don't make a 10 ply mud tire or they'd be on my dizzle truck too.

yup, they make excellent French rubber products. I'm quoting a friend who worked for them for short time, always made me chuckle. What sort of cars do you have in your stable? I have a 2007 Porsche Cayman and a 2013 Jetta TDI, girlfriend has a 2008 Audi TT and a 2005 Chevy Tahoe. I crave and absolutely require a convertible, I'm working on it..

I just sold my AP1 S2K that I put 100k on, I have an Infinity I30 for freeway duty, an immaculate 04 DC5 Integra, 05 Dodge 2500 CRTD 4x4 with ton$ of mod$, 14 Triumph Street Triple R, 12 Yamaha YFZ450R, 99 Yamaha YZ250 smoker that's very trick. I've also got an NB Miata thrasher.

That's exactly it. Its four small patches of rubber hopefully keeping in contact to the road. That's all that keeps you from ending up in a ditch or running over a drunkard. Nobody can afford to be cheap on tires. Or brakes.

Funnily enough I see lots of car enthusiasts who will happily spend hundreds of euros for meguiar cleansing products, but when it comes to tires, it has to be the cheapest available.

Nothing is wrong with getting tires at Costco.

They sell both cheap and expensive stuff.

This tread pattern takes the last 40 years of tire technology and throws it out the window.

not when they are 235/17/45s.

This is one of times I love driving an economy car. I bout some decent all seasons for my Civic for less that 400 mounted. but they are 195/65/15s

I am running 224/17/45 and I got Michelin Pilot AS3's for like $630 out the door. 235's aren't that much more, and there are a lot of good tires cheaper than Michelins.
